Seagate Development Group has officially started construction on a new 21,800-square-foot retail facility for Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, located at Estero Town Commons at the southeast corner of Corkscrew Road and Three Oaks Parkway. This new store marks a significant upgrade from its current, smaller facility just half a mile away and is designed to meet the increasing demand for Goodwill's services in the area. The new location is scheduled to open by March 2025 and will provide a better shopping and donation experience for the community.
Goodwill's new store will feature an upgraded drive-thru donation center, a receiving dock, and an improved parking lot, allowing customers a more convenient and efficient visit. Seagate Development Group has ensured that the store design complements the surrounding area, incorporating enhanced landscaping and preserving important elements like heritage trees. The store will also include bike racks and a plaza area with public seating for a more inviting atmosphere.
This new facility is a result of the Estero Planning, Zoning and Design Board's unanimous approval. The board worked closely with Seagate Development Group to address aesthetic concerns, resulting in a more visually appealing design for the building's rear and landscaping. As part of the approval process, three key stipulations were put in place, ensuring the developer takes responsibility for signalization costs at nearby intersections and tree preservation.
The new store is expected to generate 1,388 weekday trips, but officials have confirmed that there will be no significant impact on traffic flow. The current Goodwill location on Corkscrew Road has outgrown its capacity, and this new, larger space will better serve the residents of Estero and surrounding areas, providing not only retail space but a donation center equipped for higher volumes.
“We’re thrilled to work with Goodwill on this project,” said a representative from Seagate Development Group. “This new store is going to offer a much-needed upgrade for Goodwill’s customers and donors, creating a more accessible and efficient space.”
Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida continues to focus on community-based programs and services that provide job training and employment opportunities, as well as affordable household goods. This new facility will allow them to further expand these services and continue being a valued part of the Estero community.
