Embracing Tradition: Doug's Seafood Welcomes New Owners with Fresh Vision

SUSAN KOSCHALK August 14, 2024

The beloved Doug’s Seafood in Bonita Springs has recently changed hands, but loyal customers need not worry— the new owners, Tamika and Darrel Peters, have no plans to alter the restaurant's cherished New England-style seafood offerings. Founded in 2013 by Maine lobsterman Doug Anderson, the restaurant and seafood market has become a local staple, known for its fresh, homemade dishes like lobster rolls, lobster bisque, and New England clam chowder.

The Peters, who are Fort Myers residents, purchased the business because they loved it and saw its potential as a community gem. Tamika Peters, who has a background in nonprofit management and business turnaround, is committed to maintaining the high standards and traditional recipes that have made Doug’s Seafood a favorite among locals.

Doug Anderson, who remains a seasonal resident, will continue to be involved in the business, working alongside the new owners during the busy fall season. This collaboration ensures that the spirit and quality of Doug’s Seafood will remain intact.

While the menu and friendly customer service will stay the same, customers can expect a few interior updates, including a mural, brighter lighting, and memorabilia that celebrates the history of both the restaurant and Bonita Springs. The Peters aim to enhance the dining experience while keeping the heart of Doug’s Seafood unchanged.

Tamika Peters also plans to increase the restaurant's involvement in the local community, reinforcing Doug’s Seafood as a go-to destination for fresh, local fare. She is eager to let the residents of Bonita Springs know that they have a true gem in their neighborhood— a place that supports and is supported by the local community.

With a passion for great food and a dedication to preserving Doug’s legacy, the Peters are excited to continue the tradition of excellence that Doug’s Seafood is known for, while adding their own touches to make it even more special.
