Standing Strong: How Southwest Florida Continues to Rebuild and Give Back

SUSAN KOSCHALK February 14, 2025

As Floridians, we know that hurricanes are an inevitable part of life. Year after year, they come and go, leaving behind a trail of damage that takes months, sometimes years, to recover from. In recent years, Southwest Florida has been hit especially hard, yet our community has continually rallied together to rebuild and support one another. But even as time passes, there are still many in need.

One of the organizations that has been at the forefront of helping the community is FK Your Diet Fort Myers. Their mission started with serving home-cooked meals and supporting foster children, but it quickly expanded when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Restaurants closed, and they stepped up—taking in food donations and distributing meals to those in need. When devastating storms struck, FK once again became a beacon of hope, organizing massive relief efforts to help shelters, first responders, and struggling families.

Through an outpouring of community support, they were able to distribute essential items like food, water, and even refrigerators. Last Christmas, their storage pod housed thousands of gifts for foster children and families in need—helping over 4,000 kids experience the joy of the holiday season. But recently, they lost their storage pod, a reminder that while recovery efforts continue, the need for assistance remains high.

This is where we, as a community, must continue to step up. One way to make a difference is by supporting Harry Chapin Food Bank. Hunger remains a reality in Southwest Florida, and through WINK News’ March to a Million Meals, we have the opportunity to make an impact. For every $1 donated, two nutritious meals are provided to families, seniors, veterans, and children who don’t know where their next meal will come from.

At Domain Realty, we are committed to giving back through our own Domain Foundation. Established in 2023, our foundation focuses on creating lasting change in Southwest Florida by bridging the gap between affluent communities and families in need. Through strategic partnerships with local non-profits, we aim to provide support in education, housing, healthcare, and beyond.

Whether you choose to donate to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, the Domain Foundation, or directly support FK Your Diet’s ongoing efforts, every contribution helps make a difference. Together, we can ensure that no neighbor is left behind.

Southwest Florida is strong, resilient, and compassionate—let’s continue to stand together and support those who need it most.
