North Naples’ favorite lifestyle destination is getting a serious facelift!
After first announcing the exciting Piazza expansion last summer, Mercato officially broke ground on July 23, launching a much anticipated transformation aimed at creating a more pedestrian-friendly, entertainment-focused hub at the center of this already vibrant mixed-use development.
A Tripled Piazza, More Seating & a Permanent Stage
Mercato’s revamped Piazza is set to triple in size, stretching from Beeline to Tommy Bahama on the north side, and from Narrative Coffee Roasters to the former Bravo Italian Kitchen space on the south. The new space will offer expanded turf areas, built-in seating walls, shade structures, benches, and lush landscaping—plus a brand-new covered performance stage that will become the heart of Mercato’s many concerts, outdoor movies, and community events.
In their own words, Mercato teased, “Look forward to expanded seating, additional shade and a state-of-the-art performance stage - perfect for gathering, relaxing and enjoying the events you know and love.”
What’s Changing?
The goal? Connection, comfort, and community.
The large curb separating the current Piazza from the road will be flattened to create one seamless, walkable space.
Royal palm trees will be relocated, and the green space will be lowered to street level.
On the north side of Strada Place, some parking will be replaced by an all-new lounge space between Lovesac and Beeline.
Color-changing LED lights and custom lanterns have already started to illuminate the majestic banyan tree - just a taste of what’s to come.
Even though Strada Place is temporarily closed to vehicles during construction, once complete, it will return to normal traffic use most of the time. However, the street will be closed off for large events to create a safer, more walkable atmosphere.
Coming Soon: Events, Restaurants & More
The grand reveal is planned for early November, just in time for Naples’ busy season. A major celebration is already in the works and we’ll definitely be there!
Since the expansion was first announced, the Piazza area has seen a flurry of activity:
Waxin’s opened its trendy Swedish-American concept.
Beeline Lounge made a splash across the street.
Shake Shack is under construction and expected to open by the end of the year.
Taberna Burntwood replaced Burntwood Tavern.
The 239 Naples gained national attention on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
Bravo Italian Kitchen closed permanently.
And a new Violi Greek restaurant, by Chicago’s DineAmic Hospitality, is coming soon.
Why This Matters
As locals who love everything Southwest Florida has to offer, we’re genuinely excited about this transformation. The expansion brings more than just curb appeal, it’s about creating experiences, sparking connection, and revitalizing the heart of Mercato.
It’s going to be AMAZING. The food, the energy, the vibe—it’s all next level.
Mercato has always been a go-to spot for date nights, outdoor concerts, dining, and shopping, but this new chapter is taking things to a whole new level. Whether you live nearby or are considering a move to Naples, these kinds of upgrades add tremendous value to the surrounding communities.
