David and Joe Ahmad, the entrepreneurial twins behind Naples-based Coldest, recently made waves on the hit TV show "Shark Tank." Despite not netting a deal, the brothers are navigating the post-show waters with confidence.
The journey began when Joe Ahmad submitted an application in December 2022. Against the odds, they got the call and taped the episode in Los Angeles in June.
"It was a crazy journey," remarked Joe, the younger twin by six minutes. David had started Coldest in 2015, with Joe joining in 2018 to handle marketing while David tackled design, engineering, and finances.
Their episode aired on Feb. 23, 2023, showcasing Coldest's products, which include water bottles and other items known for keeping contents cold for more than 36 hours. Despite initial interest from "Mr. Wonderful" Kevin O'Leary, the brothers ultimately walked away from his offer.
"We went in there with every intention of trying to get a deal," said Joe. "But it didn't align with our vision."
The segment wasn't without its benefits, though. Coldest received invaluable exposure, with more than 8,000 people visiting their website during the show. Plus, they received valuable feedback from the sharks, which they're using to refine their business strategy.
While the shark tank may not have been the right fit, the Ahmads remain undeterred. They're still on the lookout for investors who align with their vision, ensuring that the Coldest brand continues to make waves in the market.
